Joseph W. Rausch

Joseph W. Rausch joined Gauthier Murphy & Houghtaling LLC on August 1, 2018 after over 40 years of trial practice in Louisiana State and Federal Courts. Following the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Rausch devoted his law practice to assisting New Orleans homeowners obtain fair recovery from their homeowner’s insurance company and the National Flood Insurance Program (FEMA).

After admission to the Louisiana Bar, Mr. Rausch was appointed Assistant Dean of the University Of Kentucky, School Of Law, serving until entering private practice, where he has tried civil cases in State and Federal Courts. Mr. Rausch served as special Assistant Attorney General, representing the State of Louisiana in Courts throughout the state. Mr. Rausch also served as designated Special Counsel, representing elected Sheriffs and law enforcement officers throughout the State of Louisiana in both State and Federal Courts.

Mr. Rausch was born in New Orleans, LA where he was an honor graduate of Jesuit High school of New Orleans. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Louisiana State University in 1968, Mr. Rausch entered the United States Army, graduating with top honors from the United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, as a 2nd Lieutenant. Mr. Rausch served 1969-70 in the Republic of South Vietnam, where he received United States and Vietnamese decorations. Mr. Rausch carries an “AV” rating from Lexis Martindale – Hubbell Peer and Judiciary Review (highest rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards). Mr. Rausch is active in the civic, educational, charitable community, is an active member of the Rotary Club of Metairie and volunteers at the Southeastern Region Veterans Administration Hospital.
